Easter AI
Published on April 16, 2006 By Draginol In GalCiv Journals

One of the general areas I have been looking to keep improving on the computer AI is its overall strategic overview.  It's a tricky thing since even in multiplayer games, many tactics simply work well.

For example, "rushing" in on-line games is an age-old problem.  My job is to take my online experience and translate it to having computer players that "feel" a lot like human beings (except minus the disconnects and a couple of specific game-related features such as your  "diplomacy ability" affecting your relations positively).

Doing this has meant adding quite a bit of new text so that players understand what's going on. I've tried to make it more apparent when someone is being paid off to go to war with you than previously.  But while I was at it, I thought I'd add more colorful text to existing areas as well.

Nice.. incorporating some favorite one or two liners would be a h00t!

or "Mr. Kona -chev, Tear Down That Wall! "
"Ask not what my empire can do for you, ask what you can do for my empire "
"I feel the need, the need for speed. "

unfortunately I don't understand all what "Supreme Shotgun" said
some of the sentences proposed are just too obscure for me...
like the reference to Alan Bradley or James Kona or the dog or Billie Jean

how can that be a declaration of war ?
please stardock don't make the game so complicated that we need too much culture to understand what the computer is trying to say to us although things like :
"There Can Be Only One" are pretty obvious

thanks.

...and translate it to having computer players that "feel" a lot like human beings (except minus the disconnects...

And I actually thought the GC2-crashes were designed to simulate these bailers.

Alan Bradley is the name of the human leader in the game, teh referance is from Star Wars. James Kona is a James Bond knock off. Billie Jean is a Michael Jackson song.

I personally like the "Mr. Kona-chev, tear down this wall!" Classic Gipper.

I've always liked this one. Lets see if anyone can guess exactly where its from.

Right before a war.

I personally would like "We will remember you, when you are only sand."

Slightly more obscure: (Drengin message while winning a war against you)

Haha you fool, you've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Kona, but only slightly less well-known is this: Never go in against a Drengin when death is on the line!

Not that obscure. The Princess Bride is an often quoted movie.

I still can' t place S1Genocide's quote.
