I don't think ads effect swing voters either. Just look at them. Can you imagine anyone saying "Yes, my mind wasn't made up a minuite ago, but now that I see what that guy is saying about himself, I think I'll vote for him." Nah.

527s are not designed to sway voters. Instead, they crank out turn out of the base.

The swift boat ads and such ARE effective becuase they are likely to get more Republicans to come out and vote. In a close election, it's all about turn out.
