A whole new world!
Published on February 18, 2008 By Draginol In Blogging

It's a whole new JoeUser.

The site has been completely rewritten from scratch. Some features haven't been completely re-implemented and there are bound to be some glitches.

But we now have the kind of backend and application support to do all kinds of cool stuff.

In the coming days, various usability tweaks will be made as we discover what key little features we've overlooked. Then, in the next few weeks, we'll start to add in new abilities and such.

We hope you like the new setup. I think as you look around your blogs you'll find that you have a lot more control than before and will find that things actually (shock) work much better than the old system.

There seems to be some issue with a script in the new article page. I've already emailed Zoomba about it. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Awsome. Thanks.

Found the forums. woo hoo

same here. Instead of at the top like on the old website, the link is somewhat in the middle below the ads.

We're going to add a forums link to the top of the page for logged in users.

1) Somehow I can never stay logged on to the site neither with Firefox or EI when even I leave the site. I always have to log in manually on the old JU and this new one.

Are you clearing cookies regularly?  Do you have any software that does browser file scrubbing for privacy/security reasons?

2) Is this site more Firefox friendly? The quote feature never worked for me.

I've used Firefox 2 and IE in equal measure to test JU2 throughout the development of the site.  It should work just fine (note: Firefox 3 Beta has issues)

3) Can I still use programs such as Microsoft Word Blog and Microsoft Live Writer to post articles?

Yes!  I will have the new information on that posted this afternoon.

4) Is there a signature feature, I wouldn't mind having something like a modo, a phrase or my name at the bottom of each of my replies. I'll even take a add on for Firefox that can do that.

No signatures at this time.  We're considering it for a later update.

I tried to post something with a picture and the picture wouldn't show, for some reason. Is this potentially one of the glitches you mentioned?

Could someone please let me know if this is still a problem or if it is something else. I would really appreciate an answer, please.

Images seem to work fine for me.

Not that I know of. I didn't have this problem before, it's been happening for about 3 or 4 months now.

Kool, the quote feature works with Firefox.

Yes! I will have the new information on that posted this afternoon.

Thank you. I look forward to using it soon. I can't post articles cause I can't select a category. I saw someone else had the same issue. How did those who posted articles overcome this problem?

No signatures at this time. We're considering it for a later update.

That would be great. I like the whole signature thing.

Doesn't seem to be working for me. I selected the same picture you did MasonM but look what happened to it.

Hmm...

I tried copying CharlesCS's pic...this is what it turned into.  I think there were some issues, but looks like they've been straightened out.

Geez, I guess it isn't working. I copied Charles' too and it didn't work for me either. Or maybe it did.

Here is a darnedest thing too.  And I am only using Zoo as he is the most recent.

I have JU open in 2 windows.  One tabbed, the other single.  Tabbed - quotes dont work!  Single - they do!

I suspect that is an IE thing, and not a JU thing, but offer it for any IE users out there having problems with quotes.

That's what you get for using IE. Works great in a real browser like Firefox and Seamonkey.
