So far both Kerry and Bush look pretty good. What do you think?

Well I think Bush won this debate pretty decidedly.  Not as decidedly as Kerry won the first one though.

I also noticed that even on Fox, they kept the camera on Bush during Kerry's answers far more than they did on Kerry during Bush's answers. Brit Hume's guys, who felt Bush lost the first two debates, are giving Bush an eigth round knockout. Quite a difference.

Of course NPR wants Kerry to win.

I agree with Draginol (goddamit, is it a virus???) but Bush won this one, if not as decisevely as Kerry won the first one, still, the President was the clear winner IMHO.

And then Kerry mentions John McCain twice in one answer.

did you notice when president Bush shut down Kerry's attempt to make it look like McCain was for Kerry? Definate point for Bush

Funny when Bush said people can understand what Laura Bush says!

He really connected with the audience on that question.

I was watching the Hardball pre-show and they predicted that Kerry would be the first one to mention Iraq. Sure enough, first question, he goes into foreign policy. I think he was reaching tonight, should have stuck with domestic policy. Im used to them dodging questions but it seemed Kerry did it every other time he spoke. Definate victory for Bush! and for Myrrander- what does IMHO mean? Have seen it multiple times and still cant figure it out.

Many of the "illegals" that we have to deal with in the school district are "multiple offenders." That means they've made more than one crossing. Iris ID could curb this. I'm really divided on this issue, I love my kids that make it here -- but iris ID is something that they are scared of, from my conversations with students.

The problem is making that technically feasible - I don't think even the feds have the computing power to do that real time. It's like Kerry saying we should x-ray every container that comes into the country - it's completely ludicrous and won't happen.

"in my humble opinion" as in: In MY humble opinon, the President won this debate.

In My Humble Opinion

The Cheney daughter comment is really frosting people, apparently. A definite case of Kerry shooting himself in the foot.

IMHO = geekspeak for in my humble opinion, BTW (by the way )

I think there's only one camera guy and all the networks feed off of it.

I hope enough undecideds are not baseball fans & saw this. Bush's best performance by far, in terms of both substance and style. He was the kind of person you would feel comfortable sitting next to at the backyard barbecue. You got the impression that he understood what being a real person is about. Ironic, really, when you recall the bar-code-scanner fiasco during 41's second campaign. Kerry came off as the Ivy League dilettante to Bush's common man.

frosted me, I think its terrible that he would try to use Cheney's daughter to try to win the debate. he was trying to sound compassionate i guess but it came across as "LOOK AT CHENEY'S DAUGHTER, SHES A LESBIAN!!" I was actually hoping the president might say something about it but i guess its good he didnt.
Another thing that bothers me in these debates is that Kerry seems intent on proving that he has people supporting him. Every time he talks he almost LISTS his supporters, it gets rather irratating, I want to hear what HE has to say, not what newspapers(very bad move to talk about the papers) or generals, or some guy on a bus have to say. This occurred a TON y in the 2nd debate but i also saw it with McCain and the newspapers in the third.

At least he caught some of Kerry's flustered looks.

Yeah, lemme tell you something: That was below the belt. I know it's politics, whatever. That was too much, it was uncalled for. Dick Cheney has already answered this question to my satisfaction.

Conventional wisdom was stood on its head again tonight. It was Kerry who stepped in it, so to speak, when Bush was the one thought more likely to do so.

McAwful is just tap-dancing like crazy - Hannity is just browbeating the hell out of him. It's great.
