OOHH...I really am liking #16...are you using a pen name?

Did you go through the whole proposal process to find an agent?  Or did you pitch your ideas directly?  Could you share the process?

In love reading fantasy!  Keep me posted on your books please.  And I love playing computer games.  Any you want to recommend or take credit for???

But the one that resonates most for me is #24, especially having lived in a culture where so many have so little...

This a copy of that facebook thing that's going around?

on Jan 29, 2009

I like these go arounds because they often tell a lot about the people who do them!  # 25 says a lot!  # 14....welcome to having a little girl wrap you around her finger!

I figured it might be fun to add my own points to the list. Those not interested, just skip this comment and ignore.

1. I've lived in Michigan nearly all my life but was born in Texas.

Born and grew up in Germany, lived in Ireland at times, still living in Dublin, Ireland.

2. I love talking and reading about politics but I don't really care much about it.

Same here. I am more interested in culture and languages, but because of the cultures and languages I focus on, I end up in

discussions about politics. I prefer discussions on religion and history of religion.

3. My birthday is almost exactly half a year away from Christmas

1/11/77 (or 11/1/77 for the NIUX among you).

4. I never had to learn to blow my nose until I was 34 due to never being sick.

Hm...

5. I have a pet turtle that I got when I was 15 (22 years ago)

We had dogs. And budgerigars. And other birds, including sparrows. And a squirrel.

6. I never had a detention in school but was suspended for defending myself (successfully) from 5 huge seniors by using a knife

back in 10th grade.

Got lots of official complains for forgotten/ignored Latin homework all the time.

7. I tend to get obsessed about order and efficiency.

You often find yourself making lists, aren't you? I make tables.

8. I prefer to chat with people online versus talking to them on the phone.

I love the phone. Much of what I say is in the tone of voice.

9. My favorite thing in the world is being the daddy of Alex, Ryan and Ashley.

I envy you.

10. My favorite hobby is reading history.

Same here, when I come to think about it.

11. I am a beekeeper with 6 honey bee hives.

I just like honey a lot.

12. When I was a kid I wanted to be a pro baseball player. Then I got a computer.

I played baseball as a kid in the American barracks in Berlin. I wasn't good.

13. I tend to plan major events meticulously years in advance.

I have no major events.

14. I was very good at disciplining my children until my daughter Ashley was born, now I just do whatever she wants me to do.

Girls can do that to people.

15. I never drank coffee until I was 37 and then started drinking Mocas every day.

Never really liked coffee. Still have a long way to go to 37.

16. I've been working on a fictional sci-fi / fantasy universe since I was 12 that I'm about to start writing books on to be

published next year.

Never was one to have ideas for stories.

17. I often spend hours doing statistical analysis for enjoyment.

Wow. That's geeky, dude!

18. I met my wife in Electrical Engineering classes 17 years ago.

Correction: THAT'S geeky!

I envy you even more now. Must be great to have a wife who actually understands the stuff you enjoy so much.

19. The movie I've watched more than any other is Back to the Future.

Number 3 for me, I am sure. I love spaghetti westerns and hence it is possible that I watched one of those more often than BttF. I

certainly watched Caddyshack more often than any other movie, simply because I watched it twice or thrice daily for several months

in the mid-90s when I found it an excellent background to learning programming and reading Usenet.

20. I enjoy having friends that are around the world because it's like having an all-star team of really awesome people to

virtually hang out with.

Same here.

21. I'm extremely competitive.

I am extremely bored.

22. I often think I have the greatest job in the world. I spend my day working on making computer games and desktop enhancement

software and love the people I work with.

I love my job but have little control over it.

23. One of my best friends is also my sister-in-law.

I don't know your sister-in-law but I am sure we would be good friends.

24. I am proud of the success our family has achieved but uncomfortable about discussing it with friends and family out of fear of

being seen to be "bragging".

Do brag! I want to learn how to do things right.

25. I believe that the best way to succeed is to help others be successful.

Perhaps. It certainly gives you a clear path most of the time.
