Brad Wardell's views about technology, politics, religion, world affairs, and all sorts of politically incorrect topics.

Awhile back we put in a feature that only rarely gets used and never on JU before. It’s called Destroy Account.  What happens is the system goes and wipes out every post, every comment that user has ever made on all our sites.

I got to use it today on LW. I had exiled her for comparing a tax cut to corporate welfare and then as being the same as the welfare that the Octuplet mom receives for her 14 children.

I’ve said this in the past but occasionally needs to be repeated – there is no “free speech” here.  I invite others to create blogs and post on whatever they want with only a few exceptions – personally attacking each other and me in particular.

I would like to think we’re a lot more tolerant than say the DailyKos or the Huffington Post who wouldn’t put up for a second having bloggers who attack their benefactor or even having a different ideology than their benefactor.

I don’t really pay that much attention to JU these days. I don’t care if someone is liberal or conservative and I’ll happily engage in a debate.  Where I draw the line is when people come after me or my company personally.  At that point, I have pretty much no tolerance.

Anyway, I wasn’t planning on destroying LW’s account utterly but she couldn’t restrain herself from making one last goodbye post where she complained that I would keep her posts so that I could make a few cents off her writings.  To to oblige her on her fear that her writings wouldn’t profit me, I used the destroy account feature to remove all evidence of her writings and comments from the site.

Where you rocking out to Devos "Whip it" when you used this "Destroy account" feature?

on Feb 17, 2009

Well, I guess this answers my question to the article I wrote. Talk about being out of the loop. The strange thing is I saw this coming sooner or later and at the same time never thought it would happen. Sure, LW had the ability to get under some peoples skins and right in their faces, fear was not a word she related to much. But I also figured ignoring her would also work in most cases.

In a way I think it's a shame (I enjoyd her intersting way of commenting) but I am one who believes "you do the crime, you do the time" and if Brad felt it necessary to nuke LW's entire existance from JU, I have no complaints about it. She will be missed but life goes on.

Free Speech? Whats that? I think it existed a few hundred years ago.....

Depends on your idea of what free speech was at all. Chances are it never really existed except maybe a concept of it. After all, nothing is free in life.

Some people are just self destructive. I think she is definitely one.

I'd say she was more honest in her feelings and she paid the price for it. As Brad said, he never said this site had free speech and throwing your opinions at him in the form of attacks will give him a decent enough excuse to show anyone this is his site and he's the supreme commander here. Just like we all have the ability to block people from our own blogs. This is blacklist to the extreme. One thing can be said about her, she sticks to her guns regardless of consequences. Very few can claim that around here.

I on the other hand like JU and choose to stay on Brads good side as best as I can  even though I tend to agree with his opinions quite often and I am not as directly honest as LW was.

There is not a "nuke account" button from what I can find. Since my e-mail request was ignored many months back, maybe you will lift your finger up and delete, cancel, close my account. I'm not a yes woman and to be associated with a person who will only surround himself with yes people is not my cup of tea. I prefer to be challenged, think, learn, and grow.

There are some wonderful people on JU and I have missed them. I wish you all well.

...and yet another fun, cool blogger bites the dust. I for one will miss you AsaxyGirl!

Fare thee well.

I for one will miss you AsaxyGirl!

...and I for two.

Congrats Brad didn't think you had it in you. I guess its safe for me to post in here again. But I won't cause I've moved on, and wouldn't be fair to comment about the littlest of whips. Ohhh burn. Hope development of the new game Demigods is going well. If gameplay is as good and deep as some of the screenshots I've seen it should be an instant buy for me.

For those of you who take issue with Brad, you need to remember that though you may live in the USA this forum is Brads sandbox, and if you don't play nice, and no question some don't, he is free to throw some sand in your face, or kick you out. Like he said he doesn't even pay attention to JU and why should he, cause the crowd that hangs out here, is mainly a bunch of losers with not enough to do and too much to complain about.

If you don't like the decision, you didn't read the terms of use, where it says you have no right to appeal and the forum is run like a monarchy and you aren't King or Queen.

Brad taught me what a "strawman" is. Though I don't recall trying to make him out to be one.

Have a wonderfully nice day Brad and all.

No matter the subject of the discussion, while arguing over differences and strongly defending one's positions, there is just no place for personal attacks. This is reasonable and common sense as personal attacks show we don't respect and honor ourselves or the other person.

You won't but you did. Moved one? Funny. Hmmm. Nice to see you around again, I think.

I'm sure most people know this but some people like to stick to their guns. This is Brads "sand box" and getting into his sand box means going by his rules. That doesn't mean people will bow down. If people avoided honesty about their opinions just to avoid getting the boot than that would make them cowards for not standing up for their beliefs. Of course there is no need to insult Brad, unless that was what he wanted.

BTW, to go around calling other people losers on a forum you claim to have moved on from but are still lurking around and posting after claiming not to be posting anymore (talk about contradictions) is to distract from the reality that the only real loser here is you since you could not even handle an anonymous blogger who did nothing more than give you a cyber-hard time.

Great! Are we getting there again where people delete their blog entries after others have spent hours writing comments?

Why not?

We're apparently at the point where people are blacklisted for having contrary politics. What's a deleted blog entry among "friends"?

Communication is a two way street and as far as I can tell this site is pretty inbred as it stands without trying to silence what little non-wingnut opinion that can manage to tolerate the prevailing intolerance.

You guys can talk among yourselves and argue about the pros and cons of being a limbaugh republican versus a coulter republican.

Oh bullshit!  Having contrary politics isn't what gets you blacklisted.  Personal attacks get you ousted.  If you want to claim that's unfair, go somewhere else.  There are plenty of great bloggers here that aren't Republican.  Some are political at all.

on Mar 04, 2009

I'd say she was more honest in her feelings and she paid the price for it.

If you'd known LW long enough you'd know her "feelings" were all over the place.  What she payed the price for was assuming that she could just keep sticking it to Brad and he'd oust her and let her back like times before.  You get to a point when enough is enough though.

I stick to what I said, she's self destructive.  Everything she's talked about in her life supports that statement.  Her actions here go right along with the way she lives.

I'm not speaking about being ousted in any official sense. I was speaking about individuals blacklisting other individuals from commenting on their "blog entries" for their own personal subjective reasons which certainly may include simply not agreeing with them. Nor was I claiming any unfairness. My response was essentially addressed to Leauki who complained about a deleted blog entry. I was merely linking the cause and effect.

Communication is a two way street

With you only on other people's blogs, I assume?

and as far as I can tell this site is pretty inbred as it stands without trying to silence what little non-wingnut opinion that can manage to tolerate the prevailing intolerance.

Inbred, really? How many blog sites do you know where Mormons, Evangelicals, and Jews discuss religion? And how do I fit into this "inbred" theme of yours? I have never even been in the US. I like JU because it gives me access to people I would never meet in the offline world. You think of it as "inbred", I see a cultural diversity that I cannot get anywhere else.

You guys can talk among yourselves and argue about the pros and cons of being a limbaugh republican versus a coulter republican.

I am neither. But Little-Whip was very fond of quoting Anne Coulter and and quoting entire articles of her. I appreciated the pointers. I like SOME of Coulter's writings.

In fact I am not a Republican at all. If Joe Lieberman had run for the Democrats I would have supported the Democrats. And I was always fond of Hillary and Bill Clinton as well. What put me into the Republican camp at all was Al Gore's transformation from a useful politician into an attention-seeking device, and the Democratic party's decision to promote John Kerry, the only possibly candidate at the time who was certified as being dumber than Bush.

Politically I am much closer to roughly the region covered by New Labour, British and Canadian Tories, the German Green party under Joschka Fischer, the German Christian Democrats under Angela Merkel, Israeli Kadima unter Ariel Sharon, and now Likud under Bibi (because I was disappointed with the Arab reaction to getting what they demanded). The area overlaps with the Republicans, but it also overlaps a lot more with what Democrats used to be.

There are plenty of great bloggers here that aren't Republican.  Some aren't political at all.

I think most of my most popular articles were about religion and history rather than politics.
