Brad Wardell's views about technology, politics, religion, world affairs, and all sorts of politically incorrect topics.

So this weekend I had to take my boat out of the water. In the process I had to wade into water that was up to my waste. Unfortunately, my iPhone was in my pocket.

Like an idiot, I immediately try to turn it on and got just the Apple logo which came on and then would go off. After a few tries of turning it on and off, I didn’t even get the Apple logo.

Ruined. Dammit. $500. @#$@#$@#!

So then I started searching online. Surely, I wasn’t the first person who had done this. I found lots of advice (most of it bad) and none of the advice I found actually included whether it was taken and the results.

Well, the one piece of advice I took was to take the iPhone and put it in a bag of plain dry white rice. I was skeptical about whether this would work.  But next morning, sure enough, I plugged it in to recharge and voila, all we right in the world. Good as new.

just wait for the iphone 5 if you can't get the 4 working again but seriously buying that thing from apple is just like buying a MW  game always something thats gonna add to it.... really MW2 was ok but no servers is a joke and black ops removed the grip from the spas shotgun.... not to mention that all the DLC to get with it and now MW3 might not have servers.... sounds like Activation follow the same marketing scam as apple so we are just slaves?

So the iPhone isn't very well suited to working in wet conditions? All this new fangled technology's got nothing over the old tech. I once had a Philips Savy that not only worked under water, but it had a polyphonic speaker until it dried. Although, I'm guessing the water didn't affect the iPhones flash support, so there's that.

Yes, I am not a fan of Apple mobile devices.

Rice is better as you can eat the rice after and get a built-in ring tone on it's way out.

I got a Nokia, and an Ericson respectively into champagne and river, i got them back from death with time and silica. So i guess that and rice is a good solution

Arileen Design;  Was 'your' OS working properly when you 'dunked' your nokia into champagne?

Use a hair dryer – Be very careful with this one. It can work for some people (it's worked for me), but you can also damage your iPhone this way. If you decide to try it, blow a hair dryer, on low power, on the wet iPhone about a day after it got wet. Don't use anything more intense than low power, though.

Remove your iPhone from the liquid and power off your device. Due to their conductive natures, water and other liquids short-circuit electronics. Do not power on your iPhone, charge it, or connect it to other devices without proper time to dry.

You revived a post that was 4 years old. I think by now Draginol has most likely replaced his iPhone a couple of times.
