I don't know if this has been widely reported yet but...

I don't get your logic.. there are plenty of games released that don't use steamworks. If your opposed to steamworks why would you purchase those games that choose to?

If you don't have a problem with steamworks fine. But if you don't like it.. rationalizing your purchases of steamworks titles only supports the practice of publishers using it.

I love Steamworks.  I don't mind Valve getting my money.  If they fix the new CDS I'll like Steam again, most likely, it certainly takes the hassle out of things normally.

I was just saying some people might not feel the same way about Valve we do.

All gamestop/impulse are steam only games that I have seen so far. I wonder if they haven't changed my non steam games over to requiring steam now as well. All paradox games on gamestop requires steam drm but if you buy it at a store or off gamersgate there is no drm on them or at least most of them.

Stardock sold out the players when they soldout to Steam/Gamestop which is now Impulse. Also Stardock sold out its gamers bill of rights when they now require steam for there new games.

Overall Stardock has lost me for a customer. Thats $50 they will never see per game nor will I buy another Stardock product because of the Steam sellout/backstabbing.

I don't want to start a flame war but I like GameStop.  My local GameStop is staffed by gamers.  They are great people and I have a lot of fun when I go there.  So lets not forget that our "peeps" need actual jobs and storefronts provide those.  My son is 16 and I would much rather hear him saying, "Would you like to take a look at the Collectors Edition?" than "Would you like to try an apple pie today?"

And before I am attacked for that I respect all jobs and everyone who works them.  I'm glad there are options and companies that value his knowledge of gaming.

I'd like Gamestop more if they didn't tell me when I go there to buy a new game that I should have pre-ordered it. This is a games store, right? They don't stock games? One time they actually gave me a lecture about this.

I went across the street and bought at Future Shop instead, which somehow does not have a problem stocking more then one copy of a new game. Course, that was before I got fibre internet. Now there's no reason to waste gas driving when Steam has everything.

Also Stardock sold out its gamers bill of rights when they now require steam for there new games.

Since you can run Steam in off line mode, requiring Steam to install is not against The Gamers Bill of Rights.

The Gamers Bill of Rights...

1) Gamers shall have the right to return games that don't work with their computers for a full refund.
2) Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state.
3) Gamers shall have the right to expect meaningful updates after a game's release.
4) Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game.
5) Gamers shall have the right to expect that the minimum requirements for a game will mean that the game will play adequately on that computer.
6) Gamers shall have the right to expect that games won't install hidden drivers or other potentially harmful software without their consent.
7) Gamers shall have the right to re-download the latest versions of the games they own at any time.
8) Gamers shall have the right to not be treated as potential criminals by developers or publishers.
9) Gamers shall have the right to demand that a single-player game not force them to be connected to the Internet every time they wish to play.
10) Gamers shall have the right that games which are installed to the hard drive shall not require a CD/DVD to remain in the drive to play.

Calling someone a puss for having a different opinion than yours is sort of juvenile, don't you think.

I've always preordered practically every major title I've bought from GameStop.  It's been part of the fun with my kids staying up late and going to GameStop at 12 midnight to pickup the new titles.  You're their with all the truly obsessive fans, some of them in full costume, talking about the game.  The kids like the theatre and the pageantry.  I'm just happy I can share it with them.  Sometimes you get extras for preordering as well like posters and bits of swag.  Again it's like the toy in the Happy Meal.  Don't need it but fun for the kids.

I'm sorry your GameStop doesn't stock the games you want.  If you make some friends there they'll watch out for you or even text you when they get something they think you'll like.

I don't know if companies like GameStop have a long time to live in the current marketplace of ideas.  I just read on HuffingtonPost that Amazon is going to open physical locations (read "warehouses") in most states and is shooting for same-day next-day delivery of physical items.  Amazon is an eight thousand pound gorilla with tentacles.  When you can get it for less, own a physical copy and have it same-day next-day what's GameStop (or any other retailer this is going to put WalMart on the defensive too) going to offer as a unique proposition?  Their is a famous quote that sums it all up, "All your base are belong to us."

The two main reasons why I haven't got Rebellion.... What about the gamers bill of rights? Yeah, but we will be making more money by forcing, I mean "requiring" them to use Steam....
