Am I the only one who has wished they could press a button when reading some trolling comment and summon the troll to their presence?

Not to punch them in the nose or anything but for study. What kind of person is a troll?

My personal favorite troll that I encounter is the entitled gamer. Are they an adult? Do they have a family? Do they literally live under a bridge?

No.

Err... idk... I am pretty sure we all done some trolling in the past before.

Yes those "entitled gamers" are the worst. Like me with gamefly. I bought games through Direct 2 drive and Gamefly bought them out. Now I cannot access 16 of the 19 games I purchased that I for some reason feel entitled to.

Of course Customer service gives me the run around.. probably complaining to each other about that entitled gamer who keeps bugging them about accessing his games. Why on earth would anyone be entitled to access what they purchased?

I think we have different ideas on what an entitled gamer is.

"Ah come on, you are asking him to TRY AGAIN, knowing darn well he will get the same 'error' and NO download? Why don't you just tell him the truth. WHY don't you tell him he will NEVER be able to download any UKMIL file if he does not JOIN (ie: contribute $9.99) and become a member? You REALLY don't believe your own 'double-speak' and deceptive, 'half-truth', 'pitch', do you? Cheesh.
Sure, he is (supposedly) NOT paying for the model (the model is FREE) but paying for the bandwidth it takes to keep the files (at the ready) (for MEMBERS) to download. Hello! (Ever seen this: ''Free Download-FREE 30 day trial Period-Upgrade to 'Pro' for $XX.XX, etc''? It's the same thing. But I guess there is (REALLY) no 'free lunch'. Chuck B Napamule   "

Last 'trollish' comment I read ---- fortunately [for him] not here...but on a Flight Sim Gaming site.  Listed age - 71.

Soylent Green is the only solution.....

You might be in the wrong industry if they bother you that much.

I doubt it's  'bother' as much as incite curiosity ....like pulling the wings off a fly to turn it into a 'Walk'....

What makes these 'creatures' tick? ....

Who is the entitled gamer? I've seen the term thrown around but I've not seen the definition. What do they feel they are entitled to?

That was my point but I wanted to vent about the gamefly situation.

People wonder why I refuse to agree to contracts which allow them to no longer give you access to your purchased products at any time, this is why. I used to be wary of DD, now Digital distribution in general is dead to me until I see some legal obligations for them to provide me access to the games I purchase rather than legal speak saying they have no obligation to do so. (like we currently see in EVERY digital distribution service)

Sorry most of that was an off topic rant.

Often the 'entitled gamer' is just someone who wants things their way or no way.  Of course if you call an 'entitled gamer' on that, they very often simply say "well I paid for something so I'm owed.....etc. etc. etc.".

The reality is, there is so much that is in fact priviledge which is these days being peddled as right that I think it's no longer just a question of the 'entitled gamer' but rather entitled society/culture.  We bred em, now we've gotta deal with em.......

Yes shame on people for expecting to receive a product or service they paid for.

Could be these people

Fistalis...I think you have just exemplified 'entitled'.

Remember...you can always buy a car...but its purchase does not also buy you the right to drive it.

Digital Distribution/sale is no different to any other purchase 'contract'. It has inherent limitations...be they warranty and/or copyright/trademark restrictions.

Government Legislation provides for Consumer protection on behalf of the consumer.  If and/or when the 'legal speak' violates consumer law it can be challenged/revoked/amended.

Where did I say they didn't or shouldn't receive a product or service they paid for?  I said "they feel owed...etc. etc. etc.".  Meaning besides what they've paid for......you know........having a sense of entitlement beyond that/which to one has right to?!?

EDIT:

lol....jafo.....always a click and a tap faster with the replies than I.........must be getting old over here......hehe

Wait I'm an entitled gamer for expecting to be able to access and play games I pay for? Really Jafo. So paying for a product or service and expecting to be able to access and or use that product or service is entitlement?

So if you pay your Phone bill you shouldn't expect to use the phone? If you buy a chair you shouldn't expect to take that chair home and actually sit in it?

So the only thing we should be entitled to is having our money taken. So its totally acceptable for someone to take money from consumers.. then remove access to the product they paid for?

(as for your metaphor, buying a car does give me the right do drive it. Just not on public roads, a more apt metaphor would be buying a car doesn't mean the car dealer can't come and steal it back)
