Brad Wardell's views about technology, politics, religion, world affairs, and all sorts of politically incorrect topics.

Despite only a handful of reviews (average review score 4/5), it is in the top list of games being played by Steam even though the people most likely to buy this type of game got it for free as a non-Steam game (so it won’t count).

I think it’s safe to say that Fallen Enchantress is the start of a beautiful new fantasy game world.

Hey, I'm playing a similar game, I couldn't buy a brand new game for a year, I can buy things that are on sale or some cheap DLC, but that has been it.  Saving for my wedding, but thank god, it's almost over, getting married in a month.  It will be nice to be married and all, but being able to buy a bunch of games I have been waiting for will be even better, as long as I don't blow too much money in Vegas.

Also, consider how different things are after FE's release than they were at WoMs release.  Massive difference. The forums back then were exploding with legitimate complaints, vile rants, asking for refunds, and it didn't go away for months.  What do we have with FE, a pretty general recognition that the game is good, a few minor bugs here and there being reported, and some balance ideas being batted around, even the complaints are pretty mild or an issue of preference.  It's been nice.

Just curious, where is this top list of games? Checking the 'stats' tab on Steam doesn't show FE.

That is great news.

On the Store page below the slides there are a series of tabs and Top Sellers is one of them. Fallen Enchantress was at #30 when I checked last night.

They are playing - but are they enjoying?

on Nov 06, 2012

Random thought i think fits best in this thread...

To engage more of the core TBS crowd, i think a mod ala Civilization but with E:FE's unique features, would interest a bunch of folk whom the fantasy genre did not. i've friends who never did buy E:WOM but who are highly 4x TBS motivated.  Fantasy wasn't for them, but tactical battles and an in-game playable civ leader intrigued them. Among other things. Now with E:FE, the time might be right for Brad to get back into modding a little bit. Doing some things with the faithful crowd here. Pumping up excitement for modding. Creting stuff for people to gossip about. Stuff that illustrates the scope of this games mod'ability. And stuff which demonstrates SD's direct involvement with the users of its software. i think there are still loads of TBS'rs who haven't given the game a go yet.

I wish you all the best for your marriage. Let it be full of love, mutual understanding, empathy without unnecessary words and a bunch of nice plump kids  ... and lots of GAMES of course!!!

(and hopefully it won't end like my marriage did, fingers crossed)

Yes, this forum has less people bashing FE then 2k forums have people bashing xcom. And all the people bashing Bioware on DA2 or ME3 forums..

Well. this is the first game in this genre (other than maybe Civ2 ... if that counts) and I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Hooray!!! Congratulations!

It's a fine game, no doubt, and maybe the best all-around RTS game I've ever played (maybe behind Master or Magic, but not by much).

I just wish it wouldn't crash every 20 minutes.

Sorry for being pedantic, but this is not a RTS it's a TBS. As of course, was MoM.

Sure, that's the top sellers and it's great to see FE listed.

I though we were talking of games being played, and as far as I understand, that information is available here:

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

I was happy to see this post by Frogboy and immediately went to baske in the glory of turn based gaming. But alas, I can't see FE listed, even in the top 100.

The game's been between 400 and 900 the times I checked. It seems to drop to 0 every now and then, so there are probably a lot of issues with gathering the statistics. I see it 0 at right now for example.
