Look for the signs..

And so on this Christmas eve I share with you all my own narrow judgmental take on how life should be. Today's topic, lame people on Christmas.

Are you a Christmas lamer? Here are the signs:

10) You didn't send Christmas cards out this year.

9) You did send Christmas cards out but as emails.

8) You justified 9 or 10 because you were "so busy" this year (as opposed to everyone else)

7) Your "Christmas shopping" consisted of going to one big store (ala Target or Walmart or something) and buying all the gifts on your list in one swoop within a week or so of Christmas.

6) You have uttered the words "This time of year is so stressful" even once.

5) You gave "gift cards" as your primary gift to multiple people.

4) You suggested "drawing names" to get out of buying presents for your family.

3) You used the excuse "they are too hard to shop for" to justify why you waited until Christmas eve to shop for them and then purchased something really impersonal.

2) You had your wife or secretary do most of your Christmas shopping for you (including the gifts for them). Ahem.

1) You admit to doing these lame things but try to rationalize and justify your actions. If you're lame, like me, embrace it. Don't weasel out of your lameness. Either stop being lame or admit to being lame.

If you are a Christmas lamer, do something about it. Don't be lame. Or if you are lame, admit that you're lame. That's the first step. Unfortunately for me, that's not the last step...

10, 9, 7......oy vey! How lame could I get?!

As for #5..I"D KILL FOR A GIFT CARD. Nothing says "Hey, I want you to be happy" like a giftcard. I know what I want.

Ditto!! Greatest Christmas idea since...since......uhoh, I wanna say fruitcake, for laughs, but I have a funky feeling that somewhere out there is a snowball with my name on it, waiting for me....

I'm a Christmas lamer.

6 of 10 apply to me and 3 of the other ones don't simply because they have to with gift buying which I did very little of... so porbably 9 of 10 is closer to the mark. I am a lamer of one.

10) You didn't send Christmas cards out this year.

Hmm I know about 7 to 8 people well enough to send cards, but I meet them everyday so it's not needed. Eh Lamer anyway.

9) You did send Christmas cards out but as emails.

Never sent any email xmas "cards".

8) You justified 9 or 10 because you were "so busy" this year (as opposed to everyone else)

Different reason.

7) Your "Christmas shopping" consisted of going to one big store (ala Target or Walmart or something) and buying all the gifts on your list in one swoop within a week or so of Christmas.

Not at all. I finished all my shopping at NOV and last one was at second week of Dec, but that's just because I forgot to buy something for someone.

6) You have uttered the words "This time of year is so stressful" even once.

Only at work. It was hell at old country buffet, where I used to work at. I will work tommorrow at Xmas. See what happens.

5) You gave "gift cards" as your primary gift to multiple people.

Only one got person got 2 cards, one for book store and one for walmart. It's impossible to buy that person a great gift. I know that person loves books and could use some walmart money so...

4) You suggested "drawing names" to get out of buying presents for your family.

I never suggested, but we did this for years. I can't afford to buy $300+ worth of gifts. Kids and one adult is within my budget. Same applies for almost everyone in my family and invited friends.

3) You used the excuse "they are too hard to shop for" to justify why you waited until Christmas eve to shop for them and then purchased something really impersonal.

Ehh one person it's true, but I didn't wait till Xmas eve. I bought the gift cards a whole month before.

2) You had your wife or secretary do most of your Christmas shopping for you (including the gifts for them). Ahem.

Not at all.

1) You admit to doing these lame things but try to rationalize and justify your actions. If you're lame, like me, embrace it. Don't weasel out of your lameness. Either stop being lame or admit to being lame.

Ehh some justifcation indeed.

Im a lamer! I'm a lamer!

Brand, I guess being guilty of two from your list isn't bad, so, I guess I'm "Lame" too !

9) You did send Christmas cards out but as emails.

I actually did both. Sent actual cards to some and E-cards to my email buddies.

5) You gave "gift cards" as your primary gift to multiple people.

I gave a movie card to my daughter as a stocking stuffer. And I received two also.
But I like receiving them cause I can choose what I want. L:d

10: Correct
9: I would have, had I bothered at all.
8: Nope
7: Nope, but I suspect ordering most of them online, and getting the last ones last-minute probably counts.
6: Nope. (Is it?)
5: Nope. (They had lists)
4: Nope.
3: Nope.
2: I wish ,)
1: Nope, no rationalisation..

Yup, guess I'm a christmas lamer.. And this is special because.. ?

Seriously, when you don't have any close family or friends around you, it doesn't feel all that much like christmas used to, and thus one just doesn't make so much effort.. (caveat: Those people that have created their own new families No tree, no decorations, amazon'd presents to family, whom we then went to visit for 4 days (long weekend) (Also, trying to save/spread cash carefully, so as not to end up on the losers list ,)
