Brad Wardell's views about technology, politics, religion, world affairs, and all sorts of politically incorrect topics.
Well isn't it?

I walked into the living room and my wife was watching one of those fat people losing weight shows.

I said, "Deb, why are you wasting your life watching this junk?"

To which she responded, "Big talk from the man who just spent his entire day playing World of Warcraft."

A pause.

"Well, I did make it to level 30 today."

At which point my son Alex chimes in, "Yea, now daddy can wear a helmet!"

My wife looks at my son and then looks at me and says,

"Brad, I think you need to wear a helmet."

..

I'm just saying that World of Warcraft is a better waste of time than biggest lower or whatever it's called. Because...Because..well...because!

You know, although i agree with the original post in the sense that I also think that WoW is a better waste of time then sitting in front of the TV, I would like to make a random point. Although WoW is a better waste of time to both me and Draginol as compared to TV, it is defintely not a better waste of time for his wife. All I am saying that the use of time (especially in the waste of time sense) is a purely subjective activity. So of course to the one wasting the time, that is the best current way to waste time. These wasting time needs change over time, and only on accasion (very rare) do spouses definitions of the best way to waste time overlap.

I think it all depends. I actually talked about this to my wife last night - after catching this blog, because this has come up between us before.

My wife explained it pretty well, she said that TV is "Downtime", you sit back, watch the screen, don't think, just recharging your batteries. While the PC is more in line with doing something like knitting a sock, or going through your stamp collection. Its not really downtime in the sense of downtime. Shes a big proponent of people needed a good solid 1-2 hours of downtime per night for their sanity. Given her triple degrees, mostly pertaining to the human body and human mind, I think she might be right.

Someone mentioned above.. As far as time wasting, its pretty easy to blow 5+ hours in a game in a day, while its 100% unlikely my wife would ever blow 5 hours watching TV in a day. So I guess my waste of timers are much more destructive than hers, especially when mine aren't true downtime.

I laughed for a good thirty minutes after reading this article.

Cheers

a pretty selfish argument.
different people enjoy different things.
and especially where it concerns a 'waste of time', validation is unnecessary.
