If I could imagine the perfect on-line retailer it would have to be Amazon.com.  The only thing they're missing is some sort of iTunes-like manager for going through the store more quickly and making purchasing and getting to information better.

I find that even if I don't buy anything, the site is still incredibly interesting purely as a community.

I've been a bit busy there myself lately.  I've revived a very old (and seldom practiced by me over the last few years) habit of writing reviews for stuff, including some of the movies I've stuck up reviews of over here and at another site I frequent.

I've definitely enjoyed shopping there, and have done a bit of selling too (to help feed the shopping habit, I sell stuff I don't want, get Amazon.com gift certificate credits for it, and then spend the $$ right back in the same place...)   I've grown to prefer Amazon over eBay by leaps and bounds.  More safety for sellers, and less hassles for buyers though I'm careful about what I buy used as there are some small print notes and restrictions on the guarantees for purchases from third parties.

It's funny though, as back in the early 2000's there were serious doubts about whether Amazon was really ever going to be viable.  Look at them now and you'd never know it.

It is my first stop of choice.  They may not have the best price, but then they go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied.

I assume you joined Amazon prime, then? I love it. For $80 a year I get free 2 day shipping and $4 overnight shipping. If you don't order much or don't care how long it takes to get your stuff, it's not worth it. However, if you're impatient like me and always opt for quicker delivery it's a huge money saver.

Up untill just a few days ago, the company I worked for gave incentives to employees who went above and beyond. There were stickers one would accumulate and once the sticker holder, in this case a Rinker truck with 9 sticker slots, was full one could trade it in for 9000 points that one could use or accumulate and use on a website to either by stuff of the website list (which i think sucked) or one could get gift cards from stores or online stores. I have managed to get a few points and have always picked Amazon.com as my choice for the gift cards. While it has never been more than $25 per each card I got ( I am impatient and don't like to wait to accumulate points cause I'm new in this dept and it takes longer to get points when people don't see you working harder but simply learning) except maybe 1 time when I managed to accumulate enough for a $50 gift card.

I always got the Amazon.com e-certificate so I could use it immediately and let me tell you, I have been lucky enough to find some decent electronics for $25 on this site. Actually, I am about to get something in the next few days from my last $25 gift card I am getting since my company has been bought off and will no longer provide these incentive stickers. Sad to lose such a cool way to make people work harder but hopefully the new company will provide a new kind of incentive. Personally I work hard regardless, but the points were a a nice idea though.
