It's all about the electoral college

Pay close attention: It's all about Ohio. Whoever wins Ohio wins the election. Kerry knows this. So does Bush. If you live on Ohio, I imagine every ad is a political ad and if not, it soon will be.

All this post-convention "bounce" they talk about ultimately means nothing if Bush loses Ohio because it's not the popular vote that matters, as Gore discovered. It's all about the electoral college and if Kerry can win Ohio, it's all over for Bush.

I trust your assessment on this Brad... after all, in working on Political Machine, I am sure you've seen so many scenarios played out that you have a bit more insight than I would at this moment about it.

by my calculations if Bush gets PA, NC, and FL (and loses OH) he only has to pick up any one of WI, IA, MO, or NM.

It's too soon to say, but Zogby shows Bush leading by a healthy margin in Ohio. Kerry seems to have PA though (er, today).

I watch these numbers go up and down (recently up for Bush), but I think it is too soon to tell. It still seems to be a pretty even match, even in the Electoral College.

I grant that Ohio is important, but I think there are too many battleground states (some with impressive Electoral votes) to make Ohio the bellwether.

It's ironic, isn't it, that the fate of a nation boils down to a handful ot states? Thanks to Frances, the Bush brothers looked great together handing out supplies to hurricaine victims--chalk up FL for Bush.
