Check out this article on the latest in the CBS memo battle. CBS apparently didn't do very much research into this story after all..

Draginol:

I asked this in the previous thread, but will ask again. In reference to Killian's secretary's statement on 60 minutes, does that make a difference in this story. She claims that someone saw the original files and miscopied them but confirmed for CBS what it had already determined from other sources?

Does that give the story more weight?

*sigh* so few trollings and so many trolls.

Anyway, I heard a phone interview with Killian's son who said that CBS was even misleading everyone by making it sound like this person was his father's personal secretary which isn't true.  He said she was a nice person but just didn't have the information to make the statements that she was making.

A behind the scenes look at CBS News.

Another interesting angle to this whole story is the number of CBS affiliates who either bumped the program to late-night or experienced mysterious "technical difficulties" during the hour. Like WYOU, Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania CBS affiliate WYOU experienced "technical difficulties" for the duration of the latest 60 Minutes program -- a program which was to reveal what a lot of us already knew -- that George Bush got special treatment to get into the Texas Air National Guard. Of course, the NBC affiliate in the area uses the same transmitter and it broadcasted normally. WYOU isn't the only area of the country that had transmitter problems (or broadcasted alternative programming) during the show. Imagine if it had been an expose about John Kerry. Would WYOU have had a problem then?

As the Blue Lemur reported it, WYOU is owned by Texas millionaire Perry Spook. Spook doesn't want Kerry to get elected because of Kerry's proposed changes to FCC guidelines. Mr. Spook is also (of course) a Republo-facist contributor. It's obvious that this man doesn't want the truth about Bush to be broadcast. You can reach WYOU's program director at fandrews@wyou.com.

"Troll" is Jill's favorite word, but I'm afraid I can't respond to her because she hasn't actually written anything of value that I've read yet. *laugh*

So Zel Miller being in his 80s is a senile old man, but an 86-year-old woman is dead on. What the hell either all of the old people who don't have Alzheimer’s know what is going on or don't which is it?

I am confused on that subject only.

How about the real story? That Bush was given the guard gig he had specifically as a favor and specifically to avoid combat, and he couldn't even stick that out for a whole tour. And that he has lied about this every time it has come up in his career in public life? Frankly, the original or copied document is a sideshow to the real story.

I'm just amazed at how otherwise intelligent people can be blind to HOW sleazy, how empty of character, and how greed-driven are the President and the overwhelming majority of the administration. How anyone can talk about this guy as "honest" is beyond me. It would be laughable if it weren't obvious what damage to the country this mistake has made and will make in the event of his reelection by systematically disinformed voters.

As a sideline, another ridiculous fantasy is this ongoing theme of a "liberal" media. Witness the Kitty Kelly tarring and feathering before anyone read the book or considered the layers of fact-checking and legal vetting the publisher (money-concerned, but also afraid for other reasons) had to put into its publication - by the media, but administered by the Bush administration. Big media is big money, and there's no wiggle room between the two. And the Bush family is, in its very essence, big money.

You too NEED to read this with an open mind. Now I know that's "real" hard for you left-leaners.
