dragoon, if you use Paypal you can get around that problem. They accept payments with solo through there and into Stardock.I've read a lot of bad things about Paypal... Things like Pp losing card details etc.I'm really quite suspicious of things like that.Has anyone else had issues with Paypal? Or is it easy to sign up once, and then cancel the account once i've done what I needed to with it?Sins of A solar empire is getting a boxed release in the UK in June I believe, so it's only really TotA I need.

Off Topic:

Had a paypal account for about 10 years - well, since they started it anyway.

Never had an issue - very secure. (Biggest threat is phising emails from 3rd parties to you, but I get those for most banks now.) I have Paypal plus or some such. In fact I keep a balance in it at all times as it earns a money market interest - no fees. After keeping it open for several years, they even gave me a "PayPal" Debit card - can use it at ATM's and such. Also gave me a Credit line to use as a back up source of funding - at a time when I really had no credit ot speak of. Helped me re-establish myself after an IT Start-up I was involved in was a victim of the 'Dot Bomb' bust of the late 90's.

On Topic:

WOW. Just WOW.

You can backup your game when you download it and if you go to the backup directory for Stardock Central in your Programs Files, you'll find a big file there. If you burn that to a disc, you can then use it to restore the game after you reinstall Stardock Central on your future computer. No need to download again. Simple

Actually delaying the release was helpful as I'll have more time to play next week, with work needing to be done this week. I kept from playing the beta the last few days to make me want to play the actual release more Seeing the game hyped up again and showcasing all its features really brings Galciv to shine. Who cares about the GTA release when we are getting TA released the day after

Who is John Galt?

Who is John Galt?

Well, he's one of the main characters in Atlas Shrugged.

But I think it's a screenie from a custom race game.

You know that that's a phrase used throughout the book, right? It means, "Don't ask questions nobody can answer." I just finished reading Atlas Shrugged yesterday. It's soooo long! >.<
on Apr 25, 2008
Why didn't you guys include a pic of the new invasion screen as one of the new features?
Imo it's a big improvement over the last one.
I guess ya ran out of space.

Yeah, I know. I was being facetious. Plus, if there were any n00bs who did actually want an answer to that hypothetical question, I thought I'd help.

As far as reading it - I'm sorry. It's nowhere near as great as all these people make it out to be. It's overrated, overly-long and over-the-top. And the objectivism is almost annoying thick in that book.

I'd never read it again if there wasn't money involved.

It looks great.

Now please don't think i was looking for something wrong, but.... on the Tounament screen it should say "threw in their lot" not "through". And on the campain screen it should say "she and her crew". Sorry but I just don't want all of your hard work marred by a little spelling error.

Now I know. I know for sure.
Brad, you are evil.
First you announce it for the holidays. I get all worked up over it. Then you delay it. And again. And now, just as the game was supposed to hit the internet, you delay it again. And give us screenshots. Screenshots of the most evil, scrumptious variety. Only to torment us further.
You are evil.

I've had no issues with PayPal either... the only thing I'd say is that there is quite a bit of phishing for PayPal accounts about.
on Apr 25, 2008
This looks A.W.E.S.O.M.E. stardock-thanks   cant wait for my boxed version to arrive

Dargoon I have had a paypal account for some time and use it regularly-very secure with pw protection etc-no hassle to set up and you can close it down at any time

hope this helps

Bring on TA!!!

I love the Tolkien references in the planet names.

OTOH, I think the misspelling of "idiocy" on the Drengin research screen should remain. It just seems appropriate

Not sure if this is the correct forum to bring this up (since the game is nearing final version) but I wanted to comment on a couple of consistent patterns that have emerged in every game I have played using the latest beta. First, I find the Torian computer controlled race expansion into the universe to be unbalanced in every game. My settings include: immense galaxy, either painful or crippling difficulty level, and 4-5 computer players. I have been playing as the Terrans. In every game, the Torian computer player rapidly expands to fill at least 1/2 the galaxy and is always the most tech advanced and strongest economically. Generally, the remaining computer players hardly expand at all. I am looking for a challenging game, but not an impossible one. The Torians are always overwhelming and the other players are not expanding as a counter to the Torians or to me. Second, I never seem to have money to be competitive in expanding or arming. I have used as much as 50% economy advantage (and 20% technology), have established several long range trade routes (when the computer players haven't even researched trade), and often had several economic resources, but to no avail. As I said earlier these are consistent patterns that emerge in every game and These trends interfere with experiencing a challenging, but winnable contest.
