Watching Obama absolutely crush McCain in the third debate. It's just so painful.

Republicans decided to have a "moderate" old maverick. They got their wish.

Ask yourself if your company had to hire McC or OB who it would be.

I think McCain rolled over 0bama.  0bama couldn't explain his "spread the wealth" nonsense very well.  Although, that doesn't matter to the cultists followers who believe in that crap.

I agree, the biggest WHOA moment for me was when they discussed "joe the plumber" and obama, rather then denying the "spread the wealth" claim, actually admitted. Spread the wealth = wealth redistribution. And that is a very VERY bad road to go down.

Sometimes I think Obama's inexperience shines through - and shows us at least an honest (sometimes) politician.  I think his policies are going to be damaging to the country, but at least he is not experienced enough to lie about them all the time.

Somebody find me one like this for Obama.

Yeah right.  Hold your breath on that one...

Obama is black in case you didn't notice, and in this country we (white people) aren't allowed to do anything even overtly funny or ironic about black people without being labeled racist.

(Yet when it happens to Palin its not sexism, go figure.)

Also as to Joe the Plumber....please, I live in Ohio...you can have a tax lien and NOT EVEN KNOW IT....my neighors had one...they're an older couple, house paid for, taxes went up and they just mailed in the old amount for whatever reason (they said they didn't get anything telling them the taxes were going up)....the county said they sent TWO notices to their address, but they use a P.O. Box?  They didn't know about the lien until someone read it on the county website (where they list all addresses behind in taxes) and asked them about it.  (Yeah our neighborhood is pretty close knit, and no I didn't find their lien..heh.)

If someone moves, or has a P.O. Box switch, (which is what my neighbors used because their mail kept being stolen at the house by a family member), or if the tax office sends it to the wrong address, you can have a lien and not know.

All that to say, it's more common than you think.  We also have a hippy wanna-be couple on our street whose "anti" everything....anti government, anti taxes, anti mowing their grass....they refuse to pay taxes until the very last moment before eviction.

Sorry to get off on that tangent, we have colorful neighbors and taxes are kinda hot round here right now with so many new levies on the ballot....EVERYONE is talking about them.

I don't think Joe was a plant.  A plant would be squeaky clean.

As for not being licensed to be a plumber.  I have the Rooter guy out once every couple years.  He is licensed but the guy with him isn't.  But they are both plumbers.  (They charge the same anyway....hmmmm).

they said his last name, and it was way too uncommon to be a generic name...

Anyways, I am not sure obama is showing his inexperience, he is acting on the assumpting that 95% of the people would be enticed about the promise of free money, even if it means stealing it from the other 5% (and that they cannot figure out that it means possibly loosing their jobs, because free money is free to EVERYONE). Heck, my liberal dad says "he is just saying it cause he has to, he is not going to actually do it"... mind boggling to think that "obama is not that bad because he is LYING about the bad things he wants to do"

Anyways, I noticed obama kept on going "if you are a small business making under 250K a year" and mccain never gave a good answer to it...

I mean... lets say you are a small business and have excellent margin, you sell for TWICE what you buy for (and that is a pretty generous assumption...

So to sell for 250K a year you need to spend 125K on stock... now add to that about 3000$/month for renting a store... now add to that taxes, now try to employ people... oops no more money! Even a single employee can mean going into a net loss for a small business with 250K a year net income. Joe the plumber pay 0$ because he is not "rich enough"? give me a break! the 50% of business making less than 250K a year are basically self employment by one guy who acts as a business. Practically none of them has employees.

Watching Obama absolutely crush McCain in the third debate.

Obama did no such thing. All he did was keep his "cool" and spout off his talking points to answer questions.

McCain was attentive, (certainly animated) and assured. He did get some important points raised.....(besides those already mentioned...Ayers and abortion), I was disappointed though that he didn 't go after the touchdown after making them.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha,

Obama's intelligent and very sly...make no mistake...he measures every word....his elequent words sound so good to some but are stone cold empty, especially when he discusses his pro-abortionism. 50 million unborn babies dead so far and Obama is only warming up..(if elected he's promised to pass the Freedom of Choice Act which would undo any pro-life laws on the books, parental notification, etc.)

McCain pointed out Obama's opposition to a bill that would have provided immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion. Obama replied the measure wasn't necessary.,,,and cited doctors have their Hippocratic Oath...all the while knowing full well that the doctor violates his oath by aborting a baby...the whole point of the abortion is because the abortionist wants the bothersome baby---dead.

Obama mentioning the Hippocratic Oath is an empty as he wants the womb to be. Maybe hoping McCain might overlook it, Obama claimed he was supportive of a ban on late-term abortions as long as there is an exception for the "health" of the mother.

McCain was ready....and warned against Obama's clever and careful use of his words....He pointed out Obama lied about his shameful and wretched record in denying care to abortion surviving babies. ....and "Health of the mother is a term that has been stretched by the proabortion movement to mean almost anything".

McCain should have come back even stronger and said something like that the US Supreme Court itself made it plain that "health" is to be defined expansively for permissive abortion.

Obama is a lawyer...he knows this...he's cagey...and he's been and being nursed in Planned Parenthood's blood call. He knows full well that a "health exception" for abortion means any abortion is OK, but he hoped he had pulled the wool over the audiences eyes..guess it worked on you Doc.

Once again, Obama is a very deceptive guy....while he appears to be thoughtful and concerned, he cooly lies about his pro-abortion voting record in front of God and tens of millions of AMericans, etc. watching....

If he can lie about this, what will he NOT LIE ABOUT? If Obama can extend no respect for the lives of innocent unborn babies vainly gasping for breath in their last minutes of life while he/she is coldly laid on a shelf in a closet to die, he should never be in a position of power over America's health system and life laws.

Yes, McCain slung the Marxist mantra "spreading the wealth around" back to Obama.....it's going to be a very bad road indeed.....Obama could be the Overlord of the socialist Democrat ticket.

I don't think Joe was a plant.

Me too. The next morning Diane Sawyer interviewed Joe "the plumber" Wurzelbacher. Her first question was did the GOP put him up to any of this and he said flatly no...simnply that Obama was campaigning in his neighborhood and he asked him his now famous questions about his tax plan.

I have to agree here, to say that he was being "inexperienced" in his "honesty" is probably wrong, I bet he said it on purpose because promising people he would take money from someone else (the rich 5%) and give it to them (the 95% making less then 250k a year) is enticing to people who would be on the receiving end.

heck as one of those 95% promised "free money" (from someone else) even I felt the tingling of enticement. I just know that it is wrong and resist the temptation (and I know that it will damage the economy and make everyone poorer, and then the temptation completely disappears). But betting on people to resist temptations or to understand complex economic models is a losing bet. Just look at how many people have unplanned pregnancy, STD, obesity (obviously dangerous to self temptations); or declared bankrupcy recently causing the housing crisis (and that is SIMPLE economic concept)

you are right....Obama is banking that the average person is the type of "what's in it for me" and just gonna hear what he says he'll "give" them and get the fuzzy tingles and then go out and vote for him.

They don't realize that he is talking about redistributing the wealth which is a basic tenet of Socialism. For people who don't understand this...Nazism is National Socialism and Communism is "Atheistic Socialism". These systems are based upon the few elites in the government  exploiting one class of workers in order, they say, to help another class.

And besides, over the last 40 years, when have Liberal ever, ever, cut back on taxes...Obama at the DNC convention came up with 800 Billion in NEW spending.....in 2 of the debates, in view of the present ecomomic crisis, he was asked how he would cut back and he never gave a straight answer. McCain said he would use the ax and then the scapel....all agencies except defense and taking care of the Veterans would go under the microscope.. if they just trimmed away all the dead wood agencies, trimmed away the fat, got rid of waste and fraud, throw the lobbyists out on the street and told them to go earn a real living, then we'd be moving forward.

It's not only change, but REFORM across the three branches of government...they all need to be revamped but for this to happen we need people in there who are there to serve and not beholden to unions, to lobbyists, to cronies, etc. ad nauseum.

that is something i have to agree with, both are promising new programs that will cost a lot more money, mccain has the spending freeze to help balance that, where the hell is obama expecting to GET the money to do so? (especially after criticizing bush for borrowing and for spending money he doesn't have).

As for the average person getting that tingling feeling and not "understanding where it comes from"... obama flats out says it will come from the "rich"... and the "exon-mobiles of the world" So I would guess they think that free money comes from the "oil companies" Than again, I might be giving them too much credit, I know plenty of people that do NOT grasp that the government does not just magic money out of thin air, but tax it out of people.

Presumably Obama is talking about businesses making>$250k in profit, rather than turnover; if you're taxing turnover you can end up taxing a loss making business much more than a profit making one, which I doubt would be desirable for anyone.

still, this is chump change for a business.

Dammit JU, your embed feature sucketh sometimes.  I was trying to embed the video of Colin Powell endorsing Senator Obama but it wouldn't work.

on Oct 19, 2008

Yawn, Colin Powell as Secretary of State was a big Bush mistake.....Colin Powell has aligined himself more with the Democrats than Republicans....he is pro-abortion....so what do you expect? Birds of a feather stick together.....

on Oct 19, 2008

I never expected Powell to endorse McCain.  Thought he might sit it out, but if he was going to endorse at all I fully expected it to be BO.  Timing is interesting, though.  Now that things are looking buttoned up (though they may not be), he may be looking for a job.  It's a low-risk, high potential yield endorsement at this point.
