Watching Obama absolutely crush McCain in the third debate. It's just so painful.

Republicans decided to have a "moderate" old maverick. They got their wish.

Colin Powell as Secretary of State was a big Bush mistake.....

The mistake was all Bush's, because he should have listened more to what Powell had to say and not ignored him until he up and left.

If we had followed the Powell doctrine, the Afgani war would probably be over.

Colin Powell has been one of my heroes since childhood, despite my difference in political opinion from him in many respects - he was a brilliant general and a great strategist.  Your immediate dismissal of his opinion because he supposedly 'has aligined himself more with the Democrats than Republicans' is yet another reason I find you so closed-minded, Lula.

General powell has always impressed me with his quite reasoned demeanor. His wisdom has been shown to be exceptional throughout his career and this country would be infinitely better off had he been leading the last 8 years. The interview he gave on Meet the Press has again revealed a knowledgeable enlightened man and I sincerely hope he is looking for a job.

Oh and it's not Lula's fault, she was just born in the wrong century. She would've been much happier having been born in the same century as her avatar.

I looked up powels endorsement of obama...
Some of my sources are in the bottom but basically he says he endorses obama because of a bunch of one liners that basically mean charismatic, he then says both obama and mccain would be good presidents, but sara palin would not. And he finishes with how much it bothers him that republicans act as if muslims and arabs are bad, and likes how "enlightened" the democrats are in regards to accepting islam.
Since the charismatic thing is bull, his only real arguments are:
1. Palin is not ready to be president
2. Muslims are good honest people, not like the republicans say.

Interestingly he left the bush cabinet on a sour note, he says he "warned them about iraq". And he was probably kicked out by bush due to disagreements. So now he is moving over to obama, whom he has been advising on foreign policy (where obama's charisma would be used to "lead the world" so to speak, which is bull).

There is also the whole thing with his views on abortion... actually what the hell is he even doing in the republican party? he is a democrat through and through.

I found a bunch of articles like this one:

Here is an excerpt from wikipedia.

On October 19, 2008, Powell announced his endorsement of Obama during an interview with Meet the Press, citing "his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities", in addition to his "style and substance." Powell additionally called Obama a "transformational figure."[45][46] He was also "troubled" by the "false intimations that Obama was Muslim." Powell stated that "[Obama] is a Christian - He's always been a Christian...," and continued, "But the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not America." Powell then referenced Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan, a Muslim soldier in the U.S. Army who served and died in the Iraq War. Powell later stated, "Over the last seven weeks, the approach of the Republican Party has become narrower and narrower [...] I look at these kind of approaches to the campaign, and they trouble me." Obama and Colin Powell are both pro-abortion...neither one has a problem with killing innocent babies in the womb....on this issue, they are both cowards and really very little men.

Imagine if we had sent 4,000 troops daily, 6,000 on a busy Saturday and they were all slain and absolutely no end of the slaughter was in sight. That's abortion on demand....the medical war, medical terrorism on American’s unborn babies, with 50 million already dead since 1793!  Obama and the big retired General Powell fully support this war....The battle against the innocent unborn must never cease for them....the war can never be over.....yes, indeed, they are both truly little men...cowards actually.

BINGO!

Powell endorsed Obama becasue he's Black and Powell wants a position somewhere in his administration. Pure and simple.

Guess he had no problem with BO trashing Petraeus & our military in general.  He can somehow overlook the negative aspects of BO's campaign because the 'narrower' approach of McCain's is more troubling to him.

They are quite a few steps beyond that.. i have no problem with abortion either, but i get a bit squeemish about partial birth abortions and denying care for the born alive... which obama heartidly endorses.

They are extreme fanatics of the pro abortion...

1. Extreme fanatic pro aboriton: Obama... no help for born alive. partial birth ok, etc...

2. the moderate pro aboritionists: It is ok to have an abortion... but there are limits (especially on late term).

3. Completely in the middle: me, abortion should be allowed, with limits, but I wouldn't abort my own children. (aka, abortion is wrong, but we can't force people to have unwanted babies)

4. moderate pro lifers: abortion is bad and should not be allowed. except for cases of high risk to mother or rape or incest (don't know why they put incest there, but that is what they say).

5. Extreme fanatic pro lifers: a mother should never be allowed to have an abortion, and must raise / pay for her child, even if she was raped. (palin)

So, interestingly enough, both obama and palin are wayyyy off of the center on this issue.. which i find very odd.

he is pro-abortion

Has he ever said he was for abortion? I don't remember many politicians who actually spoke out in favour of abortion.

Either way, I support and respect Colin Powell. It's a mustery to me why he endorses Obama, but then it's even more of a mystery to me why the left didn't tell him to go to hell with his endorsement. After all, all the things the left hate about Bush were pretty much impersonated in Colin Powell. Powell stands for everything Obama claims to be against.

Hypocrisy.  It really is not hard to figure out.
