What do you do about rats?
Published on October 30, 2004 By Draginol In Politics

If you lived in a house that had a rat "nuisance" you might tolerate it. But if one of your children died from a rat bite, you might be tempted to start going around killing all the rats in the house and getting rid of the rat holes.

After 9/11, there were a lot of rat holes in the world. You don't worry so much about which rat bit your kid as getting rid of all the rats. The most obvious infestations were Taliban Afghanistan and Saddam's Iraq.

So goes the thinking in this article. Check it out.

That is a well-crafted and exceedingly prescient analogy.

Good insight.  But we are doomed to suffer it as so many dont see the rats.

After the election is over, the vote will have changed by a minor percentage, prolly a swing of less than 10%. Which means less than 10% of the people voting will change who they are voting for. Based on this pundits will decide where the loosing side went wrong, and where the winning went right.
If Bush looses it will almost certainly be blamed on Iraq 2, it will have been Bush's foreign policy (or, more specifically the execution thereof) that was his undoing, in the eyes of the pundits.

That is a great line: "You bet we might have."

Perfectly encapsulates Kerry's political philosophy.

and if your attempts to kill the rats cause even more rats, make your neighbors hate you, and costs you billions of dollars for little effect? and of course that big rat that killed your kid is still scurrying around making videotapes because you were hunting that small one in the cage you and your neighbors put him in and monitored? meanwhile, moderate rats are losing strength to radical rats because of your incompetent actions to keep the rat hole clear?

the rats are stronger and more numerous thanks to you. get someone who can do the job.
