Insightful essay by reluctant Bush voter
Published on November 6, 2004 By Draginol In Politics

Here is a fantastic essay that every left of center person should read (and right of center for that matter). It really crystalizes why millions of people, who might have voted for Kerry (or sat out the election) decided to come out and vote.

I have seen many many comments along these lines but few that put it so artfully.

Her Blog was a cogent explanation of how the Lefties in the Democratic Party lost the election for Kerry. I found her reasoning pretty darn good.

was annoyed by the folks who decided they needed to answer her blog by telling her she was wrong to feel that way.

I fear her bravery will go unrewarded, at least by the Dems. When you boil it all down, it comes to one word, really - civility. One party seemed civil toward the American people and the other didn't.

Thanks for the link, Drag.

An eloquent essay, but hysterical.

Great essay.

I've been saying that for months now. She is just better at getting the point across.

Superb! I've heard plenty of others who felt this way, but she puts it into an eloquent, touching letter that makes me question some of my own opinions. I've always been afraid of people like Christian Fundamentalists and extreme conservatives, but I think that those who have fears on both sides are turning those fears into hurtful insults without realizing the pain they cause people of those leanings. Previously, I made myself promise to try to stop making fun of Bush and to try to see him as a person trying his best for his beliefs rather than someone who's hell-bent on making my life miserable. After all, the man doesn't even know my name! This may be a useful exercise for others interested in becoming more open-minded. --LL
