Brad Wardell's views about technology, politics, religion, world affairs, and all sorts of politically incorrect topics.

As some people saw in the recent deficit graph, President Obama plans to create deficits that are just staggering. They make the ridiculous Bush deficits seem downright responsible.

So what will happen as a result?

There are 4 possible things, none of which are good for our country.

1. We’ll have to print more money to pay for the loans the government is going to have to take out to pay for these crazy programs which means increased inflation. That means your assets will become worth a lot less.

2. We’ll have to raise taxes which means a lot of productive people will work a lot less.  Let me tell you, as someone writing this from an airplane having been away from my family all week, there’s no way in hell I’d work the hours I do if the government is going to take most of it.  Think someone will replace the productive people? Ask Detroit how that’s working out.

3. We’ll have to cut programs which means a lot of people who are dependent on these programs will be hurt.

4. Some combination of the above.

Since I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004 (not because I liked Bush but because there was no way I’d support Kerry or Gore) I felt pretty bad for the mes Bush made.  But most people I know who supported Obama voted for him because they love him. Well, congratulations. Now he’s your mess.

I’ve pretty much lost my faith in the federal government. They steal your money and then flush it into programs that are huge wastes of time and energy.

yeah... Italy did #1 which is why you can pay hundreds of thousands of Lira for pizza.

Did you ever ask what this "Love" was based on?  I can never get a solid answer...
ESPECIALLY since he's sending more troops to the mid-east.

Because he's not Bush. That's how all this Obamafest got started.

my husband informed me at dinner the other night that we will start looking at ways to cut our income because he said "they will be looking for us."  He's thinking by next year.  So while we're pretty good debt wise, we're going to get things we want (new car) and try to get the house in shape this year so we can cut income next year.

The whole reason being we've lost incentive to work now.  It doesn't make any sense to make that higher wage just to have the government take it from us.

Pretty sad!

Its funny, I feel downright giddy about the Bush mess I helped create now that Obama has displayed the strength of at least 10 Bush's.

You'll probably just end up passing the debt onto your children. Your kids will grow up in austerity, because your generation couldn't keep its wallet in its pants. It's the circle of life.

The positive to come out of recession - for the conservative at least - is that women will start to dress more conservatively soon. There's an extremely strong correlation between skirt length and economic growth (google it! It's one of the few interesting things to come from an economist's mind). So the days of bikinis will be behind us, and the days of burkha analogs will soon be back. Huzzah.

In any case, I'm sure China will be happy to sign the US up for more long-term and economically crippling loans at attractive rates, so printing money is unlikely to be necessary. Just don't let the IMF get into your economy - every economy they've touched seems to go to hell within months.

Its funny, I feel downright giddy about the Bush mess I helped create now that Obama has displayed the strength of at least 10 Bush's.

Really? That's an odd kind of moral relativism. I hope you don't apply that to other areas of your life.
