I was too lazy to do a clean install of Windows 7 on my Thinkpad T400.  I didn’t want to monkey arounhd with reinstalling all my software.  In hindsight, I probably would have been better off doing so as there’s so much crud on my system sucking away its life that I am regretting my decision not to just start from scratch.

I always back up my files and just do a clean install.  It's a pain to put all my programs back on, but the registry cleanup alone is worth it.

Ya I can't imagine NOT doing a clean install on a system...

I actually enjoy doing clean installs. Sure installing all the software and downloading updates takes time and putting back all the files you backed up like my music, pictures and document can be time consuming but I love the new car smell (metaphore) I get every time I do it. It also allows me to clean up all the clutter and only have the latest updates as oppose to all the leftovers of the previous multiple updates of all my software.

I say do the clean install, it's time well spent.
