It’s like being back in Baldur’s Gate except with today’s tech.
If you liked Baldur’s Gate and don’t have Dragon Age I’m not saying you’re a bad person…but I’m not saying you’re not.
I mean seriously, if you’re into RPGs then this is a no brainer.
I have every intention of getting it. However, I'll wait until next year when the "gold" or "game of the year" edition comes out with all of the DLC and a proper expansion pack.
Has something to do with a CGI dragon voiced by Sean Connery, I think.
Uh? Really? I've been reviewing every information I could find from wiki/official site/game credits/etc but it seems I've missed a connection...where is Sean Connery in all that?
Lo
This game is too awesome... only played 8h, but I already know that I will surely try to clear it using a warrior & a rogue. Plot, characters, spells, fx, music... 2Good2BeTrue
Spent over 110 hours on the game since it was released. I'd say it is probably one of the best games of this decade and well worth the cost. Hopefully we'll be seeing some good DLC come out for it too. The story isn't stellar as far as originality goes, but it's good enough, but what really makes the game is the party interaction and the voice acting. This is a game no fan of RPGs should pass up.
Wow... im almost through my game... school, work, elemental beta(blames Frogboy), and other things are getting in the way... I would of beaten it by now... Wonder what my next character will be... mage or a rogue...?
I've tried Baldurs Gate II but the battles went in 200km/h so couldn't control anything. KoTOR though was normalpaced. Seems I'll get Dragon Age.
??? Couldn't control the battles in BG2? Maybe you're just not used to starting a D&D character at that high of a level? Play through BG1 and then import your saved character over to BG2. It might be easier for you then. Unless maybe you're talking about a technical issue which is making your game run super fast for some reason?
I hate "M" rated games cause they are freakishly hard to get with overprotective parents...
It's a joke made in reference to a film called Dragonheart, where Sean Connery voiced a Dragon. He didn't provide any voices for this game, although I bet he wishes he did!
lolz
"I'm the cock of the walk." Another Sean Connery joke.
So....Who's going to remake DA with the elemental engine?
Wow. I have been enjoying the game (albeit slowly) with a few exceptions....
...but I just finished the Sloth Demon part and I must say that I am impressed. What I thought was going to be a little side quest ended up being an involved and fleshed out time sink. I was enthralled and, I must say, a little disappointed when it ended.
Very much looking forward to the next corner...
Ah, yes, the Sloth Demon ... hmmm ...
SPOILER ALERT
First of all it takes place in The Fade, which is the dream world that happens when you eat dill pickles and ice cream late at night; or consume strange mushrooms. The Fade happens to look very much like the third from last mission in Guild Wars Nightfall outside the Gate of Pain. Looks like they were heavily inspired by that art even if it was not a direct copy.
I really hated that GW mission, so already I got a bad attitude. So, I runs around killing little mobs until I comes to the Sloth dude, who I figure is the bad guy, but it turns out he ain't. Now no real spoiler from me, just advice: You really got to get what this Sloth dude has to give you. There is a hard way and an easy way. The easy way you can find with Google, and then the rest is just a simple boss takedown.
AND ONWARD
Quite a ways onward. Yes, this is a brilliant game. Even though I got a bad first impression, it is growing on me slowly, sort of like mildew on damp underwear in a hamper. Graphics, really good for a cross platform game; otherwise the graphics are sort of not what they could have been. Sound and Music, excellent, very very good. Voice acting, very very good. RPG technology, very very good. Gameplay ... I ought to finish the game to comment. My main problem with gameplay is that so far my character just doesn't "feel" good in combat. Very subjective, I know.
How DaO handles parties, rez for dead party members, party combat ... well, IMHO WoW and Guild Wars are vastly superior. My gut level feeling is that this is a RPG with the emphasis on interpersonal role playing. Combat and party mechanics seem to be cumbersome and have sort of a "tacked on" feeling.
Well, I will press onward; but for now the question I am always asking as I play DaO is "how is this game better than Guild Wars Nightfall," which it so greatly resembles in its storyline.
too much fun... been playing the crap out of this and I still have a long way to go.
