In no particular order, here are some of my favorite memories of being a very small child.

  1. Blue toilet water
  2. The theme song to Bewitched
  3. Catching Locusts (Ciquadas)
  4. Eating angel food cake made by our neighbor Beverly
  5. Going to the Great Sand Dunes with my parents and thinking the clouds were where we were going.
  6. Getting a TCR track delivered by Santa after Christmas
  7. Catching lizards in my neighbor Betsy’s back yard
  8. Looking for snail shells with my Uncle Morley at night
  9. Seeing Santa and Rudolph at my friend Chris’s house
  10. Ice skating on the pond across the street from our apartment

Around here, Cicadas and locusts are differnt bugs.  The former comes out periodically and messes with your hearing!

The latter just jump around and look cool.  When they are green, they are called grass hoppers, but when they turn brown, they are called locusts.  Don't ask me why!

As for theme songs, Gilligan's Island (Maryann was hot!).

Hi Locamama!  Good to see you posting.

OH and what I remember about going to the great sand dunes was burning my feet but having to keep going because I had no shoes with me...that was a really, really, bad choice

Yea, my burned feet were at the beach, so we always made a bee line to the surf!  I hate shoes, but burned feet makes a wearer out of me!

Do you still have vivid visual memories of you skating on the pond across the street?

Reading this, I can actually still see  images in front of my eyes from the times I was skating as a child on the various ponds in the forest... And it's not that the memories would be uniformly distributed: rather one gets to remember a few discrete situations for which it's not quite apparent why they are remembered as opposed to some others (obviously usually from enjoyable times). In fact most of the situations one does not see as memorable at the time they happen, and those that he/she sees as such usually don't get such a prominent place in memory....

From your list, it very much looks like you experience something similar, don't you?
