No you don't.  C'mon... think about it.  You don't really want to go back there...

on Apr 08, 2011

I don't believe I ever saw it let alone used it.

Sort of like the hair on my head. It was fun while it was around, but it's never coming back ...

Someone's going to make Brad feel old by saying something like "What's OS/2?"

on Apr 08, 2011

Being about the same age as it, and only dreaming of having a computer for most of that time, I didn't get a chance to see the OS/2 in action. But what I do miss about it are the jokes, which are just about the only relation I have with it. Jokes like:

OS/2 VirusScan -- "Windows found: Remove it? [Y,Y]"

Windows vs OS/2 = Michael Jackson vs Mike Tyson

OS/2... Opens up Windows, shuts up Gates

Microsoft gives you Windows... OS/2 gives you the whole house

Is OS/2 half an operating system?

And many more. Now, all I've got are Mac jokes.

I completely agree Draginol.  In the era of Win 3.1 and 95 I primarily used OS/2 2.x and Warp 3.  Win31 and 95 were just plain garbage compared to them.  The first time I got on the internet was using Warp 3.

To this day I still find myself wishing I had the object oriented desktop and REXX.  NT has passed up OS/2 in functionality in many ways, but it still isn't quite where OS/2 was for my productivity.

"What's OS/2?"

Really...........

Well if OS/2 is that old, Brad probably had to get permission from his parents to stay up late and watch the Tonight when it was out.

By the way what is OS/2?

I miss windows.

By the way what is OS/2?

An attempt to produce an operating system in competition to Windows.

If you *REALLY* missed it then you would go build one like it.

Well, feel free to get reacquainted...eComStation

Talking about getting re-aquainted. They're bringing back, of all things, Commodore 64 in three or four flavors. Hefty price tag on the really good one too. $700 US. Read the article day before yesterday at Tech something. I don't recall the exact website. Okay ... I found it.

That's just a PC with an expensive case mod.
