After years of waiting, I’ve gotten the Chevy Volt.
I’ll be doing a more thorough review shortly after I’ve had more time to evaluate it.
A big hindrance is the recharge outlet. That will cost another pretty penny for most owners.

Should be interesting to re-do that energy consumption analysis you did a couple of months ago now that you have the Volt.
Your house is not 30 years old either. It would require a panel upgrade for me, and I am not going to fork out an extra $2-3k for one.
Your house doesn't have 110 volt outlets? It's a standard plug. It's nothing fancy. You just plug it into the wall, even in a 30 year old house.

The 240-v charger is optional as the Volt can be recharged using the standard 120-v wall socket charger that comes with the car. This would take about ten hours.
The optional charger described in the link would charge a depleted battery in about 4 hours.
