I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since OS/2 2.0 shipped! It certainly changed my life.
To recap, here’s an article I wrote…for its 10th birthday.
Ahhh. In a way, I miss OS/2. At the time, it was way better than Windows.
Its looks better than Win8 anyways
Better UI than Win8. Can I pay 300 dollars for that or does it cost more?
I think the worst thing about the OS/2 2.0 fiasco is how it delayed native 32-bit programming by years, on top of the Multitasking DOS 4.0 fiasco (remember the 80386 was introduced in 1985!).
Actually it's been 25 years, not 20.

Everything is about details... reread the OP... it is about OS/2 2.0 ( 20 years )... not about OS/2 1.0 ( 25 year )
My bad. Thanks.
I think OS/2 was the first operating system with a graphical interface I used. But not for long, I've got very vague memories of it, since my school upgraded to Windows 95 about a month or two after computer science classes started. Though it didn't make much difference, we were learning Norton Commander at the time.
Let's just say the curriculum in my country for computer science was crap for most of the time, sort of still is.
I remember Windows back in those days. If you inserted a floppy the whole computer would hang for a while. When I started working at a bank that had OS/2, I learned that it did not have to be so. I used OS/2 for two years, and it was mainly great. It crashed too, but not as often as Windows.
I remember it well - and no, it does not seem like 20 years!
