CBS's internal investigation ousts 4 employees
Published on January 10, 2005 By Draginol In Current Events

You can fine the complete report here. I'm not impressed. Very little introspection.  They tossed out 4 people but there doesn't seem to be any soul searching of why this happened. They blame it on "competitive pressures" - as if there were tons of others ready to pounce on this "story".

The reality is that a clique of far-left wing "journalists" at CBS got out of control and nearly brought the network to its knees. Until the mainsteram media can come to terms with its bias, it's going to keep losing viewers.

I am very impressed. News is so often flawed and/or skewed. At least CBS News is keeping their standards. American News is so often ridiculed around the world. Maybe this will help give it a little credibility.

Brad, while I respect your opinion most of the time, I feel that I must now give you a "paranoid alert".  CBS may be biased, and I firmly believe it's a maybe, and there may be some journalists who are also biased.  However, Network Executives and those who own the networks are incredibly wealthy, and it would take incredible evidence to prove to me that they, the ones who really control content, are liberally inclined.

Further, Network News has been losing viewers at a fairly steady rate since Cable outlets became available, CNN's viewership, though I realize the end of your article refers to FOX, has been increasing, as has MSNBC and CNBC, and other cable news outlets.  "Keep losing viewers"?  Maybe, but then again, viewership of news, taken as a whole, i.e. adding all the networks together, is down.  So perhaps this is more a sign that people are becoming disintrested in current events?  My sons and daughter don't watch the news because it's boring.  Most of their friends don't watch it because it's boring.  Some of my younger associates don't watch it for the exact same reason.

Blaming liberal media bias for reduced news viewership is flawed, there are other, social concerns that contribute to this.

Cheers

I am not impressed either.  They whitewashed it.  The head crook was let off scott free, and make no mistake.  That was his piece from the get go.  4 people lost thier jobs for following HIS orders!

What can anyone say about this? It was obvious to me that the whole thing was politically motivated, but what do I know?

I don't think network executives keep that close of tabs on this kind of thing. I think the producers like Mary Mapes were the ones with the agenda and went for it.

I never expected any serious introspection from this so-called "investigation." The CBS execs paid for and got a fresh pair of very transparent underwear, but that's about it. No surprises here at all, not even a concession that the documents were indeed fake - they just can't bring themselves to give the Pajamahadeen any credibility whatsoever.

It's also sweetly ironic that they called the story's blogger critics "partisan hacks" when, we now know, they got the story from a left-wing anti-Bush blog site in the first place. Nice.

Well, it's their loss. Not that I was watching before.

I was waiting for the word "leftist" while reading this. Wow, nothing before the third line. You're slacking Draginol.

The interesting investigation would be the origin of the documents themselves. Since the claim by LTC Burkett (and then retracted) that he got them from CWO Conn turned out to be blatantly untrue, from where did they come?

Another detail that I find completely hard to believe is that Marian Carr Knox (LTC Killian's clerk-typist interviewed by 60 Minutes) would be able to remember whether or not she typed a document from that long ago. While she did deny ever typing them, most the 71Ls I've known in the military (and anyone else whose major responsibility is to type documents) type so many documents there is no way they could remember what they typed last year, much less decades ago.

Also, every typing class I've ever been in taught us that a good typist types letters, not words. If you type correctly, you really aren't reading what you are typing at all.

CBS President Bush’s National Guard service memos probably came from the same people that brought you the MJ-12 documents.

I want to believe, thpppt

Sometimes it's just amazing how if something fits into a belief system how widely held it is as the truth. Regardless if it was faked, it just needs to appear genuine.

Sheffield Gayphone slammed after being accused of Sexually harrassing a 17 year old boy.

A British Actor has had to flee the City of Sheffield after the helpline launched a hate campaign against him and sent Death Threats.

So called ‘helpline’ Sheffield Gayphone have been nicknamed ‘the dirty 69 helpline’ after its been revealed they are at the centre of a sex scandal.

The helpline has had complaints flooding in from sexual harrassment, threatening behaviour and intimidation.

They have also been condemned for having a telephone number ending in 69 69.

What sort of a professional helpline for the gay community has a telephone number ending in ‘69 69′ and what sort of a professional helpline has a statement on their website which clearly reads ‘we dont offer sexual services’. One which clearly does.

Was the telephone company making fun of them giving them a 69 telephone number. Or is that what they wanted.

Sheffield gayphone have already been slammed for being too overfunded, receiving £2000 a year UK Taxpayers money and a £10,000 grant from the lottery.

Why do they get this money one asks, why indeed?
