..and here are the specs..

My car's lease is almost up so I have to think about getting a new one.  I currently have a 2003 Bonnaville. It's a pretty good car actually. Cost around $35,000 back in 2003.

But now it's time for a new one? Any suggestions? Here are the specs:

(1) Needs to be front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
(2) I prefer American made cars.
(3) Prefer a head's up display
(4) Prefer but don't require 4-door vehicle.
(5) Needs ot have built in nice GPS type unit.
(6) Needs to have enough horse power so that I never feel like I'm pushing it (I tend to drive fast).
(7) Would like adaptive cruise control

I'm not terribly price conscious. The limiting factor is typically that the cars I want are rear-wheel drive which simply isn't an option in Michigan.

For instance, I'd be tempted to get the Cadillac XLR if it was front wheel drive or all-wheel drive:

Aieeee! Blasphemy! Putting FWD on a car like that would ruin it!

I would buy a Jaguar XK dear boy, I just bought one for my young son Richard H Maxwell. Although I would say rear wheel drive is better old chap, and American cars tend to be of low quality. You need a good old British Jaguar old boy.

Rear wheel drive sucks in the snow. He lives in michigan.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Dodge MagnumLink

It's pretty reasonably priced too.....

I'm quite fond of the Acura SUV. (can't remember the model...sorry) Punchy little V-6, 4WD, very comfy interior, and room for your brood.

Or you could get a Porsche. I love mine!

Somebody needs to tell SPM that a Jag is just a Ford Taurus ::

You need a car again???

I remember you wanting the same car before too, in the picture.

Well, I don't know of any cars that have what you want in it. I don't even think that Pontiac is making the Bonnevill any more. I am too lazy to see if the G6 is front wheel drive.

I love the Grand Prix. Very agressive look and the bug eyes in the back are somewhat likable.
Again, too lazy to see if its rear wheel drive... but a lot of these car makers keep talking about the technology on rear wheel drive is soo great now.

Oh and a agree with Dharma with the Magnum Hemi 4WD or get the 300C AWD (or is it 4WD?)

Or get a Aston Martin.

It's AWD.
Magnums are awesome cars....roomy enough to be functional for anyone who has a family...but they look sharp. Our friends in SD got one, I got to ride in it and I just loved it.

I personally like the look of the Scion too....but that's just because it reminds me of the Mini I had when I was a teenager (my first car).

Me too!

and it's built right next door to Toronto - in Brampton, Ontario. Still qualifies as an "American" car though.

The new Dodge Charger is gonna turn some heads as well, though don't think it is coming out til later in the year.
on Feb 16, 2005
ehhhh the charger should be a 2 door. or maybe a 2+2 reversible rear doors like the RX8

I love the Scion!!!! Can't see that in the snow, though... Magnum? yes, all in the snow! Looking good too.

Now, if he gets some 22 inch rims.....

The problem with the Magnum is that it doesn't have the bells and whistles that you are looking for.

I really think that you should consider driving an XLR.  Though it is rear wheel drive (as are most of the trucks that you see on the road in the winter doing just fine) the body is exceptionally well weighted.  It is a luxury sports car, so there is a lot of design in the way that it handles in all sorts of conditions (very tuned suspension system that constantly adjusts to the potholes that you are driving over).  It also has all speed traction control, which is an independent 4 wheel traction control system.

I doubt that you would have issues with it in the winter.  If it gets so bad out that you think that you can't get to work in it, work from home instead

If I were to get a new car, it would be the Mustang GT. Of course, part of that is because that is the most expensive car that I can afford that is still a true sports car But, I already have 4+ cars, so I really don't need another.........
