Dreams for all users of Windows Vista
Published on January 8, 2008 By Draginol In CES 2008

2008-01-08_1613DeskScapes is a program that allows users to play animated wallpaper on their desktop. For the past year, it has been available exclusively for Windows Vista Ultimate users as way for users of Windows DreamScene to play dynamic animated wallpaper in addition to video content.

On January 16th, Stardock intends to make DeskScapes 2.0 available in beta form to users of Object Desktop. DeskScapes 2.0 will include dynamic animated wallpaper with the program and supports all versions of Windows Vista.

The final version of DeskScapes 2.0 will be made generally available in February.

Sigh, tried that and still nothing. Oh well, guess it will eventually show up

Is this available thru Stardock Central? I'm not seeing it there...

Open Stardock Central, click Object Desktop, Notice that Deskscapes is in Beta with the date of 1/16/08. Download it. You might have to turn off UAC for this to work properly, I'm not sure. I turned it off first... and it works great for me.

Running SDC as admin works too.

You can also try switching servers in Internet settings.

Ok, this is very curious. I just happened to look under View->Show/Hide Applications in Stardock Central and Deskscapes was unchecked (?!?). I have now installed it (did not need to shut off UAC, using SDC 2.51.512 build 164) and I can say it looks great! Woot!

I run without UAC...I had no problems seeing it in SDC, installing it and the dreams or running the program.
Funny thing, I do not see any differance. I see a couple new dreams and a check box for use internal player but that's about it. Seems like it runs the same for me.
What were the improvement in this version over the last? Was this tweaked to run faster and more stable?
When I heard there was going to be enhancements I was hoping to see the ability to change the video speed or choose the playing point of the video for large ones like movies but those options are yet to be seen. Maybe version 3.

Hi, just purchased Blissful Dream and Stellar Dream and while both are very nice I am a bit disappointed at the resolution of both. I am using a 22” WS LCD at 1680X1050 and both seem lost in the middle of the screen surrounded by a big black boarder, is it possible to change the resolution?

Regards

One of the settings should be to stretch and crop the sides?

I so wish SD would make a version for Windows XP!
