We have some usability changes in the works for JoeUser 2. Here are a few highlights: 1) Ignore user. A given user's posts would simply no longer show up (though their comments probably would as there'd be a significant slow down there). 2) Filter category.  Categories you're not interested could be turned off and the site would re-adjust based on that. 3) Blog Friends. You will be able to set given users as friends and be kept up to date on what they're doing on your own blog o...

What I like about the Vasari in Sins of a Solar Empire is that they are ridiculously powerful. What you're actually dealing with in the game is the remnant of their exodus fleet. The entire TEC is fighting against what is effectively like their equivalent of Battlestar Galactic, a ragtag, fugitive fleet fleeing something horrific.

One nice thing about Vista is that it requires 256x256 icons which ups the visual quality of things. This is a 128x128 thumbnail of the Sins icon.

Very annoying Vista behavior is copying files from servers and getting an obnoxious confirmation dialog every time. What is it with Microsoft and confirmation dialogs? Here's how to get rid of it: 1) Open Control Panel -> Internet Options. 2) Open Security-tab; mark the zone "Local intranet", press the "Sites" button, 3) Un-check "Automatically detect intranet network",THEN 4)  Check "Include all local (intranet) sites not listed in other zones" and 5) Check "Include a...

The cliche "beauty in the eye of the beholder" is so overused but is so universal. A better phrase would be that value is in the eye of the beholder. This past week, Apple updated the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Apple is charging existing users $19.95 to get some of the new features. Thus ensued a lot of bitching and moaning about the price.  Maybe it's because I'm a sick, scummy, evil capitalist who eats babies when I'm not on here flaming web hippies but what is it with non-pr...

WindowBlinds 6.02 is now available for download at www.windowblinds.net . WindowBlinds is a program that allows users of Windows XP or Windows Vista to change the visual style of the entire Windows GUI (task bar, Start menu, window frames, push buttons, scroll bars, you name it). Since October, when WindowBlinds 6 was first released, we have seen our biggest increase in the number of WindowBlinds users ever.  WindowBlinds 6 added native Windows Vista skinning (including Internet E...

Since the end of the Korean war, the two halves of the Korean peninsula have be free to pursue their own destiny. Communist North Korea pursued a centrally planned socialistic economy. South Korea pursued a capitalistic free market economy. So next time you're asked whether you support government run health care or other centrally planned initiatives, ask yourself how dark you want it to get? A little bit of socialism is like a little bit of death.
